Customer services policy

The policy below relates to the sale of goods and services by the Australian Association for Research in Education (AARE)

Pricing policy

1. Country of domicile

AARE is an Australian association incorporated in South Australia. The AARE Office is located in the Australian Capital Territory.

2. Currency used in transactions

All transactions are completed using Australian Dollars (AUD$) and through the Australian banking system.

International transactions are processed using the Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s Current Exchange Rate Tables valid on the day of processing. https://www.commbank.com.au/personal/international/foreign-exchange-rates.html

3. Goods and Services Tax

Goods and Services Tax (GST) is applied to all AARE transactions in accordance with Australian Tax Office requirements.

All prices include Goods and Services Tax unless otherwise stated.

4. Price changes

AARE reserves the right to change prices and freight charges at any time. Price and freight charge changes are not retrospective.

5. Payment

AARE requires full payment of all items ordered before items are shipped (unless otherwise agreed by all parties involved). The following payment methods are accepted:

Preferred: Visa, Mastercard

Other options: BPay (AARE members only) or cheque.

Delivery policy and fees

6. Shipping practices within Australia

Orders are dispatched through Australia Post and will be shipped within 3-5 working days, with an expected delivery time of up to 10-14 days after that (depending on the location the order is being shipped to).

All deliveries must be signed for. Where no one is home to receive the delivery a notice advising of the missed delivery will be left and the parcel will be redirected to the local Post Office.

7. Shipping practices outside Australia

The delivery method and charge will be discussed with the customer prior to completing the purchase. All items will be shipped by the method agreed. Delivery may take up to 30 working days after the payment has been received (timing will depend on the delivery mode adopted and delays in customs and excise procedures).

8. Items not available or unable to fulfill order

If an item becomes unavailable, AARE will contact the customer within two business days to offer a refund or credit.

Return/refund or credit policy for book purchases

AARE will accept returns and refunds using the following criteria:

Damaged Item on Delivery: Please notify AARE immediately on discovery. AARE will arrange for the return and replacement of the item free of charge.Wrong Item Delivered: Please notify AARE immediately on discovery. AARE will arrange for the return and replacement of the item free of charge. The goods must be returned in a saleable condition and not have been used.No Fault Return (e.g. wrong item ordered, not what you wanted etc.) AARE will accept the return. A restocking fee will be charged. Postage will be at the customer’s expense. The goods must be returned in a saleable condition and not have been used.Refunds will be completed using the same payment method as the original order (for example a purchase made on a credit card will be refunded to the same credit card). Alternatively, a store credit can be arranged to be used in the next transaction. A full refund/credit is applied if the customer cancels the order before shipment. No refunds are available on items on sale (a reduced price), unless returned due to being damaged or faulty on delivery.

This policy is in addition to your statutory rights arising from applicable trade practices and consumer legislation.

Refund and cancellation policy for events

This refund policy is for AARE events, excluding the AARE Annual Conference which has its own refund policy.

It is important that you ensure that you register for the event(s) that you would like to attend. If you would like to seek some assistance before you finalise your registration for an event please contact AARE via email (aare@aare.edu.au) or phone (02 6162 1261 or 0477 891 578). Refunds are not available if you simply change your mind. However, if your circumstances change, please contact AARE to amend your registration(s) for your selected event(s). REGISTRATION CANCELLATION POLICY: Should your circumstances change and you are unable to attend an event, you must contact AARE no later than 30 days prior to an event. A cancellation fee of 10 percent will apply to cover costs incurred in relation to the cancellation. If you cancel less than 30 days prior to the start of an event no refund will be available. In certain circumstances, AARE will allow for replacement persons to attend in place of the person who initially registered and paid for the event. To confirm this please contact the event organizer. REFUND PROCESSING: AARE will refund any fees paid to AARE as a result of amending your registration and/or associated requirements, after taking into consideration this cancellation policy, within 14 business days of receiving a refund request. Credit card charges are non-refundable. Refunds will only be processed to the credit card or bank account of the individual, organisation or institution from which the payment was received. Should payment have been via cheque you will be contacted to confirm your current mailing address, and a cheque will be mailed to you. EVENT CANCELLATION OR POSTPONEMENT: Where an event has to be cancelled or postponed due to unforeseen circumstances, AARE will endeavour to process a full refund within 14 days of such notification being made. ACCOMMODATION: Any event that has accommodation booked, either by the participant or by an AARE representative, will be that of the individual cancellation and refund policy of the accommodation venue. If you do not cancel and do not attend you are still subject to the entire fee.

Export restrictions  

AARE products are generally not subject to Australian export restrictions. Australian Government regulations may prohibit export to some countries. For more information refer to the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. AARE does not export dangerous or restricted items to other countries.

The country of receipt may have import restrictions, customs requirements and/or duties on arrival. It is the customer’s responsibility to research and make arrangements for receipt of the goods in these circumstances.

Security

AARE maintains a secure database of each customer’s details, purchases and payments.

All payments are processed via the Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s merchant facilities and secure payment gateway.

AARE will not under any circumstances release personal details to any third parties, except where required to do so by law. Personal data is strictly maintained and protected.

You should not share your AARE member password with others. If your password is lost or stolen, you can reset your password on our web site by supplying your email address.

AARE’s privacy policy and an Enquiry Form to lodge a complaint are available on this website. You may unsubscribe from communications and promotional material at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions contained in the email.
