Conference News

Dear Colleagues,

I hope the year is going well for you so far.

The 2015 AARE Conference planning is progressing well and the draft block program is almost finalised. As you know abstract submissions closed a short while ago and SIG Convenors and members of the SIGs are currently reviewing abstracts which have been submitted. Thank you to everyone who has submitted an abstract for consideration. The featured symposia are also being reviewed by a panel and we look forward to seeing which ones are shortlisted for the conference program.

Our professional conference organisers this year are ICE (International Conferences and Events) and they are doing a wonderful job of undertaking the many complex tasks required for such a large conference. Li Mei Giam is overseeing the project team and managing the social program (Welcome Reception and SIG dinners). The rest of the team is allocated to the following roles:

Rebekah Toole – RegistrationsDanielle Falso – Marketing, Sponsorship and ExhibitionPeta Freeman – Academic Program

We have been very impressed with the ICE team’s commitment to the AARE conference and their enthusiasm and hard work to ensure everything goes smoothly. Thank you also to the wonderful Conferences Standing Committee and the role each of them is undertaking to ensure each person attending has a wonderful conference experience.

Registrations are now open for the 2015 AARE conference with a number of accommodation options to choose from as well. Please ensure you register by the 20 August to secure the early bird rate for the conference.

We have a number of exciting events planned during including a wonderful pre-conference program and events during the conference itself. The SIG Networking Events on Monday and Tuesday evening will be held after the SIG annual meetings. This will be an important networking opportunity to catch up with members of your own SIG/s as well as colleagues in other SIGS.

Thank you also for the hospitality shown to AARE by our wonderful colleagues, particularly Dr Anne Coffey and Dr Derek Hurrell at The University of Notre Dame campus in Fremantle.

The countdown is now on for an exciting and engaging 2015 AARE Conference!

We look forward to seeing you there and progressing the agenda for Australian educational research.

Kind regards,

Margaret Baguley

(Chair, Conferences Standing Committee – AARE)
