Abstract:
Recognizing the need to encourage talented students to pursue careers in science and technology, three Ministries in Thailand joined to launch a project with the aim of promoting talented science students. This paper will describe progress on the project since 1984 and report on research on the identification of talented students. In particular, "breadth" and "depth" models will be contrasted and their implications for selecting students for the six Project Centres throughout the country explored. In addition, since 4000 students compete annually for a very restricted number of places in the program, the research also considers efficiency in the selection process.
