Abstract:
This paper is derived from research for a M.A. Degree at Sydney College of Advanced Education.
The study was restricted to Australian Visual Arts courses regist- ered with ACAAE. Course accreditation and reaccreditation documents were read into computer using an Optical Character Reader and the text of the documents was analysed using a unique words index and content analysis approach.
Substantial variation in the length and content of the material which addresses the ACAAE's 10 general criteria for registration was found. Thus the study calls into question the extent to which the objective of a "consistent national pattern of education" is being achieved.
