Each issue of the Sydney daily metropolitan and selected country newspapers from NSW was scanned for a period of nine months. Items considered "Educational" were collected. A set of categories was developed, and each educational item was analysed. From the analyses, it is possible to deduce what educational areas are regarded by the press as "newsworthy", to indicate what educational issues are innfrequently presented by the press, how educational matters are depicted, and whether there are differences between newspapers in their reporting about education.
