Abstract:
Student views of the quality of school life are of interest to educators for a number of reasons. A study of 8464 students in 53 Victorian government secondary schools has suggested a number of factors associated with differences in student views of the quality of school life. Students responded to the ACER Quality of School Life questionnaire and scale scores were related to a number of background and school factors. Differences in patterns of responses were found across Year levels and between students of different ethnic background and sex. The study also found that aspects of school organization and curriculum could influence the quality of school life in small but significant ways.
