This study explored the relationship between leisure and work possibilities for adolescents (N = 443) in transition to adulthood. Three hypothesised relationships between the domains- 'spillover', 'compensation" and "segmentation' - were investigated. The impact of gender and class on the patterns of association were also examined, revealing interesting interdomain by social variable relationships. Overall, the relationships between work and leisure found for a sample of adolescents mirrored that reported in the literature for adults, but highlighted the need for further refinement of the generalization,
compensation and segmentation hypotheses.
