Abstract:
During 1983-84 an intensive evaluation to examine aspect of professional development was undertaken in Tasmanian schools. Part of this evaluation involved case studies in thirty schools. One aspect of each case study was the development of a needs assess- ment for professional development.
To obtain a systematic view of state-wide needs, the information from the case studies was summarised into a series of question- naires. These were administered using a modified delphi tech- nique. The sample consisted of over one hundred teachers and administrators.
This paper will discuss:
- methodology used;
- results obtained; and
- a critical review of the process.
