Abstract:
Year 12 students and TAFE teachers completed Kuhns Twenty Statements Test and were interviewed covering their self image and understanding of societal factors, such as unemployment levels, which affected their negotiation of self and classroom behaviour.

Their responses indicated negative influences in their con- struction of ideology, which were partially due to the stereotyping of unemployment in society.
