Abstract:
This symposium present five separate yet integrated ways in which academic staff approach the enhancement of learning and teaching in the School of Information Studies at the University of Technology, Sydney. Implicit in these approaches are the key elements of fostering appropriate learning environments, using teaching and learning strategies based on a dynamic interaction between teacher, learner, the knowledge base and teaching- learning activities, and focusing on learning interactions with students. As approaches to action research, the five papers demonstrate that a co-ordinated approach to student learning not only provides for flexibility, coherence and equity in learning, but also provides opportunities for innovation, change, and reflection.
