Abstract:
Recent research on the experiences of first year secondary teacher graduates from the former Brisbane CAE has pointed to differentiated experiences according to the teaching subject area, with the latter affecting the perceived difficulty of, adjustment to, and satisfaction from teaching; problems; and concerns. Mathematics and English student teachers, based on significant differences found between these two groups in the study of first year teachers, have been chosen to follow through their four years of teacher education and their first year of teaching. Data from the first year of their teacher education experience will be presented.
