In this project a comprehensive high school comprised of 75 teaching staff and 1000 students, 25% of whom are LBOTE students focus on their students' understandings of racism and how it is manifested in the school context. These teacher researchers ask the question: Can the implementation of a structured program for Year 7 on the nature of racism and its possible impacts on young people increase students' awareness of the issue and influence their behavior towards each other? In this action research cycle the project team develop, implement and evaluate a social skills embedded unit of work to three Year 7 classes. Initial and post-project surveys are used to measure students' perceptions of racisms and its effects.
