Abstract:
This paper presents and discusses some preliminary findings from a joint research project being conducted by the author with Daryl Nation, Monash University entitled: An investigation of three technologically different forms of dialogic practice in distance education. This project is funded by the Australian Research Commission until the end of 1992. One of the forms of distance education being explored through a case-study approach is the use of telematics by teachers to teach students within a cluster of rural schools. The paper focuses principally on secondary school teaching, with some attention given to TAFE teaching.
