Abstract:
The central concern of this paper is to promote consideration of the feminist context of school administration. In order to exemplify the possibilities and to encourage reflection upon current practice, the experiences of women and the development of feminist pedagogy will be drawn upon. The examination of this broader experience supports one of the basic tenets presented in the paper, namely: that women tend to approach decision-making and problem-solving in creative ways which differ from the usually functionalist-causal approach adopted by men. In order to facilitate resistance against the growing wave of technicism in educational administration, it becomes necessary to consider alternative strategies.
