In this paper we describe and reflect on the use in Hong Kong of an approach to school improvement that was originally developed in the United Kingdom. Known as ‘Improving the Quality of Education for All’ (IQEA), it involves researchers working in partnership with practitioners to develop strategies that are appropriate for particular contexts. The paper illustrates how this process of adaptation has been carried out in order to take account of the particular features of the Hong Kong education system.
