Abstract:
set: Research Information for Teachers has been published to disseminate educational research information primarily to teachers but also to all others interested in education, since 1974 in New Zealand and since 1979 in Australia. During that time over 500 items have been published and used by teachers and others on both sides of the Tasman. There have been some 4000 - 5000 subscribers to set every year for 10 years but readership is much higher due to the joint publishers encouraging copying for in-service workshops and any other educational purpose. This document reports on the 1990 subscribers in Australia, the contributors to, and content of the publication over the past decade. Analyses include government and non-government schools, secondary and primary schools, and state by state subscribers statistics. Contributors are identified by country and institution. The dissemination strategy embodied in the idea of set has been copied in South-East Asia and recently by NFER (National Foundation for Educational Research in England and Wales) where a version called TOPIC now appears. There are prospects for the publication of a version of set in Japan from NIER (National Institute for Educational Research).
