Abstract:
A unit of work which existed within the science curriculum of a small rural school in north Queensland was the focal point of this study. The intention was to develop a unit of work which would allow a constructivist approach to be adopted in order to replace the unit already in existence. This new unit of work had to ensure that the relevant science concepts as stated in the previous unit were also covered in the new unit. As this was to be a naturalistic study the authors were keen to gauge the value of using constructivism as a basis for curriculum development for science units within the school setting.
