Abstract:
One of the advantages in getting older is that the lessons of youth get learned again but differently. Or so I have found in the context of working with Victoria Rawlings and others on a project around pedagogical interventions in schools in support of ending gendered violence. I am not an educationalist but, in the context of this project, I am beginning to see the complexity of the institutional environment in which youth-directed interventions around gender and sexuality take place. On this panel I will table some initial observations about the potential for University-based researchers in partnering with mission-directed social enterprises for the delivery of innovative teaching and learning programs that aim to enable students and teachers to positively connect around topics that might otherwise generate discord and harm.
