Abstract:
Country as knowledge holder, teacher and carer is an important practicality for researchers to know, understand and have a relationship with when engaging in educational research across Australia. This yarning workshop will open a respectful discussion to contribute to the spoken discourse of positioning Aboriginal stories from Country as a major contributor to research and research practice. How this may take place is an important question and yarn that needs to continue if the growing value of Aboriginal knowledge is to be respect. Respect for, including protocols and Ethics in the context of two knowledge systems, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, in connection, tension and contestations will be one of the keys issues raised. The yarning workshop will utilise a story from Country with permission from relevant Elders to initiate and set the context of the yarn.
