Abstract:
This conceptual paper introduces the Digital Literary Literacy Pilot project, which is concerned with understanding the ways in which approaches to reading and producing texts being explored in the digital humanities might be adapted for the teaching of English in secondary schools. The presenters will draw on a framework for theories of post-digital literary literacy to look specifically at the ways in which students and teachers might engage with mass-digitised literary databases and other digitised texts in English classrooms, and explore what this means for the teaching of texts, and conceptions of school English, in diverse 21st century classrooms.
