Taking account of SES, Aboriginality, rurality, and gender, the project investigates the impact of schools on aspirations and university entry in terms of school ethos, curriculum/subject selection, teachers and teaching, as well as specific educational and career interventions. Extant surveys of 1200 current Year 11 students, and their parents and teachers, are supplemented with 15 school case studies involving interviews with principals, teachers, careers advisors and students. Interviews with former students of the same schools, now at university, are used to validate and extend narratives of the impact of school.
