Technology and Learning

The AARE Technology and Learning SIG was established to create an active community of researchers who conduct and/or are interested in technology and how it enhances and changes learning in education contexts.

The SIG aims to:

  • Build a network of researchers who are interested in technology integration in education,
  • Pursue opportunities for advancing analysis of technology and learning and its place in education in broad terms,
  • Encourage and support postgraduates and early career researchers in various fields of technology and learning research in education, and
  • Provide a basis for debate and discussion of technology and learning in education at AARE conferences.

There are regular Technology and Learning SIG paper, poster, symposia and workshop opportunities at the annual conference. Our focus is broad, but includes new and emerging technology and how it underpins learning in schools and higher education contexts, education policy, workplaces and teacher professional learning. We welcome education researchers who use qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods in both small and large scale technology-focused studies.
