AARE Congratulates Professor Susan Danby and her team on the award of the ARC Centre of Excellence for The Digital Child.

This is a first for Education in Australia and involves funding of $34.9 million for the establishment of the Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child to be based at QUT. Researchers from QUT including Professor Danby, Professor Annette Woods, Associate Professor Sonia White and associate investigators Dr Chris Chalmers and Dr Nerida Spina will work with a large team of researchers from across QUT, five collaborating Australian universities - Curtin University, Deakin University, Edith Cowan University, The University of Queensland and the University of Wollongong, and 14 international universities. The Centre will focus on children from birth to eight years old with a detailed seven-year research program that includes a longitudinal family cohort study with 3000 families and nested research studies. The announcement made by Minister Dan Tehan on Sunday places the healthy, educated and connected child at the centre of research about digital lives.

AARE is proud to be one of 33 national and international academic and industry partners of the Centre. Congratulations to the Director, Professor Susan Danby and our other AARE members who are involved in this exciting project for educational research in Australia.
