Australian Association for Research in Education (AARE) and Community of Associate Deans Research in Education (cADRE), a subgroup of the Australian Council of Deans of Education (ACDE) are co-convening a national summit on 29 and 30 June in Adelaide at UniSA. This summit will bring together 80 senior education researchers from across Australia, including the Executive and senior members of AARE, and members of cADRE and ACDE. The purpose of the summit is to explore responses to existing and emerging challenges in relation to Education Research in Australia. It will focus on ways in which excellence in educational research can be advanced to better inform policy and practice. Issues that will be addressed include:

  • Securing research grant funding
  • Lifting the profile of Education research within universities, with politicians and governments, with education bureaucrats and the media
  • Succession planning and the development of future Education research leaders
  • New FoR codes and the next ERA
  • HDR and ECR programs for Education students and colleagues
  • Enhancing collaborations across universities
  • Generating principles for collaboration across the field
  • Developing action plans and people/teams responsible to implement strategies

We look forward to reporting on this summit to members in a future Members’ Update.
