From the President

Welcome to the website of the Australian Association for Research in Education.  AARE is a large, national, member-run organisation for improving education at all levels.  Membership is by an annual subscription.  Our members are mostly from universities in Australia and overseas and through our special interest groups (SIGS) network to address, share and coordinate activities of importance to educational research.  An active Executive provides the backing and leadership for the association. The AARE conference, held annually at the end of the Australian academic year, contributes to research impact and the timely dissemination of what has been learnt and what remains to be understood in our dynamic field. The association journal, the Australian Educational Researcher, is a continuing record of the contribution made to the scholarly community in and beyond our geographical location. The future benefits to education through research depend on our continuing attention to workforce needs and coordinating policy advice and data.  Our association plays a critical role in supporting and strengthening major research partnerships and networks for the Australian educational research community.
