From the President
Welcome to the website of the Australian Association for Research in Education (AARE). AARE is a large, national, member-run organisation for those interested in education in Australia and internationally. We hold as a strong principle the goal of improving education for all. Our members include education researchers from universities in Australia and overseas, policy and government research officers, teachers and educators working in early childhood, schooling, vocational, university and community education contexts. The Association is intentionally inclusive of all those interested in education and education research. The Association is increasingly taking an active role in policy and advocacy for improved education across a diverse range of issues, and are
Our Special Interest Groups (SIGS) network to address, share and coordinate activities of importance to educational research. An active Executive provides the backing and leadership for the association.
The AARE conference, held annually at the end of the Australian academic year, contributes to research impact and the timely dissemination of what has been learnt and what remains to be understood in our dynamic field. The association journal, the Australian Educational Researcher, is a continuing record of the contribution made to the scholarly community in and beyond our geographical location. The association runs regular workshops for researchers, and provides the opportunity to recognise high quality research through our Awards. We also offer scholarships and bursaries to support members to attend events and conferences.
The future benefits to education through research depend on our continuing attention to supporting and recognising high quality research across diverse paradigms and approaches within our discipline. AARE is committed to the aim of improving education for all through high quality and high equity education policy and practice. Our association plays a critical role in supporting and strengthening major research partnerships and networks for the Australian educational research community. Membership is by an annual subscription and we welcome new members and their perspectives. If you have questions or queries about membership please don’t hesitate to contact myself and other members of the 2017 Executive through the AARE office.
