- Closing dates for articles, items, advertisements and news are:
1st March, 1st May, 1st July and 1st October.
- AARE NEWS is placed on the AARE website ( www.aare.edu.au/news/index.htm#index) 8 to 10 days after the copy closing date.
- AARE NEWS is posted to AARE members 10 to 14 days after the copy closing date.
- A broadcast message is sent to members when AARE NEWS is published.
- Back-copies of AARE NEWS are available on the AARE website ( www.aare.edu.au/news/index.htm#index).
Features of AARE NEWS:
- Reports from Executive members about developments in their portfolios.
- Announcements about Research Development Workshops, AARE Conference, and support for postgraduate students and early career researchers, SIG activities etc.
- List of contents of The Australian Educational Researcher.
- Research report from the Australian Council of Deans of Education (ACDE).
- 'New Grants' sub-edited by Katrina Barker (UWS).
The aim of 'New Grants' is to profile research grants received by AARE members in the previous 12 months and to provide information that will enable researchers to connect with colleagues doing similar work, both nationally and internationally. Announcements about research funded under the National Competitive Grants Scheme (e.g. ARC) or other externally funded research grants are welcome. Contributions should include the title of the research project, a 150 word abstract, names of the Chief Investigators with an email address for the lead CI, and the name of the funding body(ies). Accompanying .jpg pictures, if available, are welcome.
- 'Recent Doctoral Theses in Education' sub-edited by Robyn Gregson (UWS).
This feature of AARE NEWS is dedicated to celebrating the research of PhD and EdD graduates whose degree was conferred by an Australian university in the last 6-12 months. Contributions for 'Recent Doctoral Theses in Education' should consist of an abstract from the PhD or EdD (300 words maximum), the name of the conferring institution and faculty/school/department; graduate's name, email or postal address, and the title and name of the supervisor/s.
- 'Research Report' sub-edited by Dacheng Zhao (UWS).
This feature of AARE NEWS disseminates the outcomes of significant educational research that are of direct relevance to policy-makers, leaders and practitioners at all levels of education. The 'Research Report' demonstrates the importance and value of educational research to the wider community and is a source of information about cutting-edge educational developments resulting from Australian educational research. Contributions should be a maximum of 800 words and include the following information in the body of the article: name of the research project; funding body(ies) (reports of National Competitive Grants are particularly welcome); names and institutions of the researchers; email address of the first CI; description of the project, methods, significant findings, outcomes/impact on educational theory, policy and/or practice; any significant recent or forthcoming publications about the research; and directions for future research (if applicable). A .jpg picture of the researcher/s is welcome. Contributions should be written in a lively, narrative using everyday language comprehensible to the non-expert. An email contact for the researcher or team leader should be provided so readers can access further information.
