These revised details supercede previous "publication" details advised on conference papers collections up to 2008 [made public on the CDs and internet in 2009].
Note: AARE conference is conducted so late in each year that "publishing" or making public of the "proceedings" of each conference, happens in the early months of the year following the event.

- Disclaimer
- The condition of any paper is the responsibility of the author. No academic editorial actions have been taken on any papers.
- Content
- This collection was compiled from the papers presented by AARE members registered for the AARE 2009 Conference - Canberra. Only papers submitted in electronic media are included. Other papers were presented at the conference.
- Hardcopy Collection
- AARE deposits in ACER Cunningham Library all hardcopies of papers submitted to the Conference Registration staff. The hardcopy collection is not equal to the list of Abstracts on this CD. ACER Cunningham Library indexes all AARE conference papers it receives in the Australian Education Index .
- Refereeing
- All Abstracts were reviewed. In addition some authors requested that their full papers be refereed prior to presentation at the conference. Such papers are indicated by the symbol ® against the paper code in the Abstracts and in the Alphabetic Index of Papers on this CD. AARE is responsible for the index which leads to the actual papers. The ® symbol on the alphabetical index of papers and abstracts is controlled and verified by AARE.
- Note: In 2008 and 2009 AARE used OCS to allow refereeing to be organized by a team of track directors. In 2009 AARE allowed an exception to the Association's prior conditions for inclusion in the conference papers collection. The paper concerned is endorsed with details.
- AARE also produces a fixed electronic format [CD] of the AARE Papers Collection for each given year so that full scientific publishing rigour is maintained. The CDs are deposited in The National Library of Australia, the State Library of Victoria, The State Library of NSW and the ACER Cunningham Library.

- Searching
- Author searches or any other key word searching is available within the Abstracts file using an Internet web browser. Papers are distinct files in pdf.
- The AARE has a large collection of conference papers. They can be considered as being in three sections, prior to 1989, 1989 to 2008 and 2009 and 2010.
- Prior to 1989
- There was no electronic publication of AARE conference papers prior to the 1989 conference.
- To find a particular paper prior to 1989 contact the Library of the Australian Council for Educational Research [ACER] or AARE Office [AARE] for assistance. Both of these organisations have hardcopy Abstract Books to consult for details of papers. AARE can say whether a particular paper was submitted for publication on disk.
- 1989 to 2009
- All the AARE conferences from 1989 to 2008 have had their papers published electronically (where the authors submitted their paper for electronic publication). For each year there is an alphabetical index of the paper codes. If you know the paper code this index is probably the quickest way get to the paper you seek. Paper codes are given in the Abstract Book for each conference.
- For 1993 to 2002 (inclusive) each year's collection has an Abstracts file with all the abstracts submitted (whether or not there is a paper) and it is searchable using your web browser for any text, including authors, title or any phrase. If the relevant paper was submitted for publication the abstract links to it.
- For 2003 onwards only abstracts of papers that were lodged on disk at the conference are included in the proceedings.
- Paper Codes
- Paper codes comprise the first 3 letters of the family name of the first author of a paper followed by 2 digits "09" to designate the year of presentation, followed by a 3 or 4 digit running number assigned by the conference organisers in order of receipt of the presentation proposals. File names for papers are the paper code followed by the file type designation [aaa07999.pdf].
- AARE includes full text papers presented at the conference, not PowerPoint or similar presentation files.
- In OCS [used since 2008] every proposal is accorded a running number by OCS. This has been modified for AARE 2008 and AARE 2009 by AARE Office adding the alpha and year number data to the OCS running numbers. OCS continues the running number series for all of AARE starting from 001 in 2008.
