The abstracts are arranged alphabetically by paper code. The paper code consists of the first two letters of the author's surname followed by the number 05 (to indicate the year of the Conference) and then three digits. This is followed by "Y" to distinguish Focus Conference papers from the papers in AARE's Annual International Conference also held in 2005 and in general using the same papercode system. For example ABE05112Y is a Focus Conference paper whilst ABE05112 is a paper for AARE 2005 Annual Conference [Parramatta]. All abstracts are also published on AARE website.
All papers described by the abstracts in this book were approved for presentation at the 2005 AARE Conference by a reviewing panel comprising members of the AARE Focus Conference Planning Committee. The reviewers considered the quality of all abstracts, required some re-submissions after re-writing and rejected some proposed papers. Names and details of the committee members are given in this CD and website proceedings.
Abstracts marked (r) denote papers that were written in full prior to peer refereeing by at least 3 referees drawn from the entire membership of the AARE or further afield if necessary to obtain academic peers for particular work.
All papers that were presented were collected in hard copy and after processing by AARE, lodged in the ACER Library for indexing in the Australian Education Index. These "proceedings" are also available on-line at AARE's website - www.aare.edu.au . The website and CD "proceedings" contains presentations in MS PowerPoint to match the list of abstracts in HTML and papers given in PDF.
A CD and website "proceedings" have been compiled and published after the conference comprising all papers and PPT files supplied to the organizers on computer disk. The CD will be distributed free to all registrants and at a small charge to others.
